County Cup Action Tonight

Three of our clubs are in County Cup action this evening, with all three in with a chance of making history as they approach their respective semi-final ties.
At least one NWCFL club is guaranteed to be celebrating a place in a County Cup final by the end of the evening, as 1874 Northwich take on Barnton in the semi-final of the Mid-Cheshire Cup at the Barton Stadium.
It's the first ever competitive meeting between the Cheshire neighbours, and for the winner a place in the final for the first time is the prize.
While 1874 ended up with a rest day on Easter Monday with their derby clash against Winsford United being postponed, Barnton turned in a record breaking performance with an 11-1 win over Whitchurch Alport, their biggest win since joining the NWCFL.
It's the third semi-final that Barnton have taken part in this month, and they have a 50% success rate up to now, with a place in the Reusch First Division Cup final secured, but they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Atherton Collieries last Saturday in the semi-final of the MEN United Cup.
With home advantage, 1874 will be hoping that they can emerge victorious and reach a cup final for the first time in their short history, following in the recent footsteps of landlords Winsford United, who clinched a 2-1 victory over old rivals Northwich Victoria in the 2013 final with a late extra time winner.
They then retained the trophy a year later with another 2-1 win, this time over Congleton Town, both games being played at the Barton Stadium.
Meanwhile, history of a different kind is being made by Whitchurch Alport, who are the NWCFL's first ever representatives in the Shropshire County FA Premier Cup Semi Final.
Alport face AFC Bridgnorth from the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division at Shrewsbury Sports Village, and will be looking to quickly banish memories of Monday's trip to Barnton by celebrating some cup success.
AFC Bridgnorth sit in second place in their league, a point ahead of Haughmond who Alport beat in the quarter final to move into the last four of the competition, and Alport can take comfort from knowing their opponents' form has been patchy of late, with just one win from their last four games.
Good luck to all three sides in the games.
