Dean Windass To Visit Silsden

Former Hull City and Bradford City striker Dean Windass will be the guest speaker at Silsden’s Sportsman’s Dinner on Saturday November 15th.

Windass was rejected as a youngster by Hull City and worked as a labourer, but continued to push his footballing dream with non-League side North Ferriby United.

He went on to play more than 700 professional games for and scored 230 goals, including the one that sent his home town club Hull City into the Premier League for the first time in 2008.

His most prolific spell came at Bradford City, netting 87 times for the Bantams, becoming their third highest all-time scorer in the process.

The 45-year-old has won a much-publicised battle with alcohol and suicidal depression, and as well as appearing on Sky as a summariser, he also works as a rep for a nuts and bolts company just around the corner from where he was brought up in Hull.

It all ensures “Deano” has a host of stories to tell to educate and entertain his audiences.

The evening includes a two-course curry dinner, free raffle tickets, the first beer free and a grand auction of shirts, boots, balls and pennants.

Tickets are priced at £30 and available by calling 07939 151829.
