The League Management Committee can now confirm that two applications for promotion to our League next season have been received by the FA.

Applications from Barnton FC and Litherland Remyca FC were received by the FA before the deadline of 31st December 2013.

Barnton FC play in the Cheshire Football League Division One, and are located in the village of Barnton which is on the A533, a couple of miles to the north of Northwich.

The club was founded in 1946 and in 1948 they became a founder member of the Mid-Cheshire League. They have played in that league ever since and are one of two clubs who have remained in the league ever since, which was renamed the Cheshire Association Football League in 2007.

They were champions of Division Two last season, and have maintained their good form this season, and currently sit in second place in the league table, three points behind the leaders Crewe FC.

Litherland Remyca play in the Liverpool County Premier League, and play their home games at the Litherland Sports Park complex, which is just over a mile from Bootle's Delta Taxis Stadium.

The park is recognised as one of the finest facilities within the Merseyside area, providing a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities, be they members of the local community or performance athletes.

Under various names and guises, the club has been established since 1959, and has teams playing at various age groups including veterans teams for ages over 35 and over 40.

The Remyca first team currently sit in ninth place in the Liverpool County League Premier Division.

League Secretary John Deal said: “We are pleased that we have now received confirmation of two applications, as it seemed that the deadline had passed without us being advised of any clubs wishing to be promoted to our league.

“Advisory ground grading visits have already been made at both clubs, and we will now look to work with both clubs over the next few months to ensure that they will fulfil the necessary criteria for joining our League next season.

"Both clubs have work to do in order to meet the ground grading requirements. Barnton have no floodlights, and Litherland Remyca have no covered accommodations for spectators. However, both clubs have been working hard to secure the necessary funding and planning permission, and are optimistic that they can meet the necessary deadlines.

"At this stage, we have not been advised by the FA if they have accepted applications for promotion from Uttoxeter Town (Staffordshire County Senior League) and West Kirby (Carlsberg West Cheshire League). Both clubs have been visited for advisory ground grading inspections earlier in the season.

"We also visited Charnock Richard (West Lancashire League) but we have now been advised that they have withdrawn their application.

"In addition, we have also been approached by representatives from three newly formed clubs, and in each instance they have been referred to the FA. The New Club deadline for applications is 31st March 2014".
