Everyone here at the North West Counties Football League were saddened to learn of Alan Bartlam's death at the weekend after a long illness.

Alan was a renowned figure in the Non-League game in Merseyside, Cheshire and beyond with strong ties to Vauxhall Motors Football Club, where he was most recently Vice-Chairman following a long association with the Ellesmere Port Club, South Liverpool as a Directors in the 1970's and of course as one of our former Colleagues at the North West Counties League as our Press Officer in the 1980's.

Paul Lawler, Chair of The North West Counties Football League, said: “Everyone associated with the League is saddened to hear of the passing of Alan Bartlam. Alan will be known to many from his time at Vauxhall Motors, but also as former media officer for the League, a role which he held back in the 1980’s and early 90’s. I have been friends with Alan for over 30 years from his time with the League when I was involved in the media at my own club. His passing is a huge loss, not only to his family and friends but also to football in general. His passion and energy for the game was infectious, and even through his illness, he could be found actively working around the club on match days. On behalf of the Management Committee of the League, I would like to pass on my condolences to all of his family and friends at this difficult time.”
