NWCFL Premier Division side Whitchurch Alport Football Club have announced that following recent discussions they have decided to part company mutually with first-team manager Matt Burton.

A statement from the clubs says, "The decision was one not taken lightly by the Clubs Committee especially given the premature end to the last campaign and uncertainty as to when football may resume. However, with the Club now using the time to re-structure including appointing a new Chairman it was decided to review the first team’s management.

Following a difficult few months with just two wins in eighteen games, the Club felt a change in manager would be the best option to try push the Club forward both on and off the field. Matt has faced a difficult period in charge with lots of change and despite his excellent management record previous to Yockings Park, the results haven’t worked out as to what this Club and fans demand.

As a Club, we would like to acknowledge Matt`s efforts and dedication since joining, a likeable character who we wish every success in the future.

In the meantime, Steve May, Lea Edge & Kevin Street will oversee any football matters whilst the Club meet to discuss advertising and appointing a new first-team manager in time for whenever football returns!"
