With only two NWCFL games called off, there was a flurry of matches up and down the region, and boy, it did not disappoint.

In the NWCFL Premier Division, two late goals for league leaders 1874 Northwich turned the tie on its head away at Skelmersdale United as they eventually won 3-2, thanks to Matthew Woolley's 89th-minute penalty, then Callum Gardner's 95th-minute winning goal.

Bootle kept up the pressure at the top with a slender 1-0 win away at Whitchurch Alport, whilst third-placed Ashton Athletic came from behind and squeezed passed Squires gate 3-2.

Winsford United's wait for a win this calendar year keeps going as they drew 2-2 away at Avro. A 69th minute James Salkeld finish was the only goal of the game between Burscough and Congleton with the home side collecting all three points.

Similarly at Hanley, as they were defeated 1-0 by Charnock Richard - Jordan Darr netting with 12 minutes to go.

A single goal in both halves saw Padiham grab the three points at bottom side Litherland REMYCA.

Six second-half goals kept the fans happy at Longridge Town as the home side defeated Irlam 4-2 - Michael Dodd's side scoring twice late on but to no avail.

Runcorn's recent turn of form continued with a 3-0 victory against Barnoldswick Town, making it four wins on the bounce their best run of form this season.

Finally, Rylands made it three wins in their last four, Elliott Morris and a penalty from Freddie Potter secured a 2-0 win at Northwich Victoria.

The top two in the First Division North both won their games - Lower Breck winning 2-0 away at Atherton LR, meanwhile, Emley AFC defeated AFC Blackpool 3-0 as they opened up a considerable gap at the top of the table.

Chadderton fell to a 5-0 defeat to Shelley, whilst AFC Darwen came out the right side of the 3-2 scoreline against Garstang, and a 99th-minute goal from Tom Mahone meant Cleator Moor Celtic and Pilkington shared the spoils after their 2-2 draw.

Bacup Borough made the long trip to Holker Old Boys but came away pointless as they lost 2-0. Prestwich Heys, on the other hand, collected all three points away at Nelson to move seventh in the standings.

The game of the day was at St Helens Town, but it was the away fans leaving happy, as Daisy Hill won 8-3 on a cracking day for the neutrals/travelling supports inside the ground. Tyler Rufus bagging a hat-trick was also a highlight of the afternoon for Brian Hart's side.

Bottom side Steeton's wait for a win now stretches to three weeks following a 3-1 defeat to Ashton Town - a late goal from the visitors sealed the win as Roy Mason's side chased for an equaliser.

Third place Stone Old Alleynians narrowed the gap to Vauxhall Motors in the First Division North, as they swept aside Ellesmere Rangers 5-1, whilst Vauxhall fell to a surprising 2-1 defeat to Wythenshawe Town.

The late kick-off at FC Oswestry Town saw the home side nick a last minute winner against Abbey Hulton United.

Whilst Abbey Hey and Alsager Town drew 1-1, Maine Road came from behind to defeat Barnton 3-2, and West Didsbury and Chorlton moved to fifth place following a 5-0 away win at Cheadle Heath Nomads.

An epic game between Cammell Laird 1907 and New Mills saw nine goals split in favour of the travelling Mills side in a topsy-turvy 4-5 game, in front of 77 spectators.

Lastly, a 94th-minute Benjamin Brooks finish saw Cheadle Town record a 2-1 win against Stockport Town, whilst Eccleshall fell to a 4-0 loss to Wythenshawe Amateurs.

The action returns to the NWCFL on Monday with Cheadle Town travelling to Maine Road in the NWCFL First Division South, the first of three night's worth of action.
