It was all set up to be a perfect weekend of NWCFL - with all 60 clubs ready for action, but once again the weather decided not to play ball and disrupted 12 games.

It started on Friday evening when Runcorn Town's game against Avro was called off for a waterlogged pitch. Then less than 24 hours later, 11 more were called off as the rained lashed the region.

But for the games that were on in the league - it was a great afternoon of entertainment.

In the NWCFL Premier Division, 1874 Northwich kept up their recent form and took advantage of other results and increased the gap at the summit to five points following their 2-0 win against fifth-place Bootle - Jake Parker and Scott McGowan both on the scoresheet.

Ashton Athletic are now up to sixth, as they beat Hanley Town 6-2 - Marcus Cusani grabbing a first-half brace as Jay Foulds and Dougie Pitts' side close in on the promotion places.

Elsewhere, Burscough defeated Whitchurch Alport 2-0, whilst Longridge Town moved up to second as they came from behind at Northwich Victoria - two goals in four second-half minutes from Daniel Birch and Thomas Ince.

Charnock Richard started the day second, but could only draw 1-1 with Padiham, whilst an epic game at Skelmersdale United saw the 18th place side come back from 3-0 down to share the spoils against Squires Gate - Joshua Klein Davies grabbing a second-half brace was key to Paul McNally's sides comeback.

In the First Division North, Lower Breck once again won, pushing the gap to second up to ten points, as they swept aside Pilkington 3-0.

Whilst, AFC Blackpool won 3-2 away at Chadderton to keep up the pressure, meanwhile, a second-half turnaround for Steeton saw Roy Mason's side come back from Holker Old Boys with all three points - winning 3-1.

Matthew Walker had a superb afternoon for Shelley as he netted three goals as they beat a determined Nelson side 5-3, whilst Golcar United headed back down the M62 having collected all three points from St Helens Town - winning 2-0.

In the other game, Bacup Borough fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of AFC Darwen.

In the NWCFL First Division South, Vauxhall Motors went top of the league following their 2-1 win against Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Whilst, in value for money game of the day Eccleshall put 8 (eight) passed Alsager with a single goal reply to cement a 5th place finish to the weekend.

A Jack Coop brace helped secure a 3-0 win for Maine Road against Cammell Laird 1907, whilst Stockport Town continue their march towards the right end of the table as they won 2-0 at Ellesmere Rangers.

Goals from six different scorers meant Cheadle Town returned home with maximum points following their 6-1 win at St Martins.

The action returns on Monday evening when there are three games in the NWCFL - an interesting start to another busy week.
