As a mark of respect, all NWCFL sides observed a minutes silence in memory of former-NWCFL President Bill King who sadly passed away this week.

The action kicked off on Friday evening with just the one game as Bacup Borough made it back-to-back league wins as they defeated Chadderton 5-1 - Matthew Bryan bagging four goals on a great night for Brent Peters side in the First Division North.

On Saturday, the early kick-off saw Cammell Laird 1907 advance to the next round of the Wirral Senior Cup after they dispatched Ellesmere Port Town 2-0.

In the Macron Cup 2nd Round, Ellesmere Rangers held off a spirited Emley AFC performance winning 2-1 at The Fantastic Media ground.

The PlayerMatch.com Third Round took place also on a bitterly cold afternoon. Wythenshawe Town advanced following a 4-1 win at home against Cheadle Heath Nomads, whilst West Didsbury & Chorlton beat St Helens Town 2-1 and Jamie Clark gave Lower Breck a slender 1-0 away win at FC Oswestry Town.

Meanwhile, over at Sandbach United, Andrew Hockenhull's side came from behind against Stone Old Alleynians - winning 2-1 thanks to a 90th minute Thomas Williams winner.

A Luca Navarro brace rounded off a 4-2 win for Cheadle Town versus Wythenshawe Amateurs, whilst Abbey Hey won an epic penalty shootout 9-8 against Ashton Town after the game ended 2-2.

A full schedule of NWCFL Premier Division games was schedule, but one postponement saw 18 sides in action. 1874 Northwich kept their recent form up at the top of the table as they beat Burscough 2-0.

Meanwhile, Longridge Town and Charnock Richard kept up their promotion hopes with wins over Padiham (2-1) and Winsford United (0-2) respectively.

The game of the day arguably was at Ashton Athletic, as their game ended 3-3 against Whitchurch Alport - with goalkeeper David Parton netting the equaliser in the 95th minute with a bullet header. Whitchurch had trailed all game but went away with a point for their efforts.

Runcorn Town ended the weekend in tenth position in the table following a 2-1 away win at Barnoldswick Town, whilst Irlam are now fourth as they won 1-0 against Congleton Town.

Avro scored two first-half goals in their 2-0 away win at Litherland REMYCA, whilst Northwich Victoria's Saul Henderson netted a hat-trick in their 4-2 win at Skelmersdale United and Rylands climbed to seventh in the standings after a 3-0 win at Squires Gates.

In the First Division North, AFC Liverpool closed the gap to the league leaders to four points with a 3-1 win at Cleator Moor Celtic. Meanwhile, AFC Blackpool beat Shelley 3-1 moving up to sixth.

AFC Darwen had an impressive 5-2 away win at Garstang, whilst Daisy Hill are moving in the right direction following a 3-0 win against Prestwich Heys and Steeton left it late to beat Golcar United 2-1 - Ben Clarkson grabbing the winner.

Just two games occurred in the NWCFL First Division South, Vauxhall Motors narrowed the gap at the summit to just one point, coming from behind away at New Mills to win 3-1, whilst Eccleshall scored two late goals to beat Abbey Hulton United 2-0 - a result which leaves them just a point off the promotion places.

The action returns on Monday with two NWCFL games - both in the NWCFL First Division South - the first of three night's worth of action.
