Our NWCFL midweek action kicked-off, as usual on Monday evening with the first of four consecutive night's worth of action.

Starting with Whitchurch Alport, who played for the seventh time this season on a Monday, Luke Goddard's side came from behind and defeated Luke Evan's Squires Gate 3-2 with a last gasp Alex Hughes penalty.

Just 24 hours later, a whole host of games took place, with The Buildbase FA Vase 2nd Round Replay taking centre-stage. After their epic 5-5 draw at the weekend, Wythenshawe Town hosted Northwich Victoria as they locked horns at Ericstan Park. Brad Byrne put the home side in front with a smart finish after just ten minutes. From then, it was a tight affair as just before the break Brandon Barski equalised. Just 18 minutes into the second half, a cool finish from Liam Crellin Myers settled the tie for Town as they booked a Third Round match with Consett at the end of the month.

However, in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy 2nd Round, all three NWCFL sides exited the competition as Charnock Richard lost 5-1 to Northern Premier League Premier Division side Lancaster City, Colne beat Bacup Borough 5-0 and AFC Darwen narrowly lost 1-0 to Radliffe.

In the Derbyshire Senior Cup, there was a huge upset as New Mills beat Northern Premier League side Ilkeston 2-1 to advance into the Third Round - Darren McKnight and Nathan Webb with the goals which make the trip back to SK22 very sweet.

There was further good news in the Cumberland Senior Cup 2nd Round as Cleator Moor Celtic came from 1-0 down to win 2-1 - Josh Charlton grabbing the decisive goal.

Just one league match took place, with Ashton Town continuing their recent good form - winning 2-0 away from home against Chadderton to move Dave Dempsey's side up to fourth in the standings.

On Wednesday evening, in the NWCFL Premier Division, a superb crowd of 259 witnessed a fascinating encounter between Longridge Town and 1874 Northwich, where a late Jon-Jo Morris finish provided Lee Ashcroft's side with a slender 2-1 win moving them up to second in the table, just a single point off leaders 1874.

Whilst in the First Division North, AFC Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners over Steeton whilst in the South, a first-half injury-time goal from Michael Burkey settled a narrow win for Vauxhall Motors over Eccleshall.

The Lancashire Senior Cup 2nd Round prooved to be good for Premier Division side Ashton Athletic as they held off Southport 3-2 for a superb win, whilst in the Liverpool Senior Cup 2nd Round, an all-NWCFL game saw Bootle defeat Rylands 3-1 with a decent crowd of 188 watching on.

Rounding off another midweek's worth of action-packed football, St Helens Town and Skelmersdale United squared off in the Liverpool Senior Cup 2nd Round, but this went all the way to penalties following a 1-1 draw at full-time. In a tight contest from 12-yards, it was Skelmersdale United who squeezed through 5-4 on spot-kicks.

The action continues this evening with just the one fixture, following Prestwich's postponement earlier today, as Ashton Athletic face Ashton Town in The Macron Cup 2nd Round.
