DRAW: Buildbase FA Vase 3rd Round Draw

Mon 4th November 2019 | FA Challenge Vase
By Craig Kendall

The Buildbase FA Vase 3rd Round Draw has just taken place at The FA Headquarters in London and we have six sides still left in the competition.

Longridge Town, Lower Breck, Vauxhall Motors and Congleton Town were all guaranteed a tie after victories on Saturday, whilst Northwich Victoria and Wythenshawe Town will fight it out again on Tuesday night after an epic 5-5 draw after extra time.

The League are guaranteed at least one side in the Fourth Round as Congleton Town and Longridge Town were drawn against each other. The two sides have met once this season back in August, with Longridge enjoying a 3-1 win. However this FA Vase tie will take place at Congleton where the two sides have never met.

Our remaining sides in the competition all got home ties, and all are against our friends from the Northern League.

Vauxhall Motors will host Newcastle Benfield, which will be the first ever meeting between the two sides. Benfield progressed after a 4-0 home win against Guisborough Town on Saturday, and they are no strangers to NWCFL opponents having faced Runcorn Town in this season's FA Cup. In fact this will be their 20th meeting against a NWCFL side in the FA Vase since playing Maine Road in the Vase during the 2000/01 season.

Lower Breck are at home to Hebburn Town in what many will see as the tie of the round. Lower Breck are currently top of our First Division North, with Hebburn currently nine points clear at the top of Northern League Division One. Hebburn beat Sunderland RCA 3-0 on Saturday and will be looking for at least a repeat of last season when they reached the Fifth Round.

This is Hebburn's first ever meeting with Breck, but they are also used to facing our sides. This is the fourth meeting in the Vase, the last coming against City of Liverpool last season, but they have also faced us 11 times in the FA Cup stretching back to 1991 when they beat Darwen after a replay.

The winners of the Northwich Vics or Wythenshawe Town replay will host Consett in the Third Round, and they should be able to get some information on their opponents off Irlam who Consett beat 5-2 on Saturday in the Vase.

Once again this will be a first ever meeting for Northwich or Wythenshawe against Consett, but Consett have faced our sides 22 times in the past in the FA Cup, FA Vase and even the FA Trophy. The first meeting was back in September 1982 when Lancaster City won 3-0 at Consett in the FA Vase.

The fixtures will take place over the weekend of Saturday 30th November.

Here is the draw involving all of our sides:

Congleton Town Longridge Town

Vauxhall Motors v Newcastle Benfield

Lower Breck v Hebburn Town

Northwich Victoria or Wythenshawe Town v Consett
