Trafford | 2-0 | Burscough |
Nick Matthews Burscough manager, "It was very hot out there today; the pitch although in immaculate condition was very dry and both teams struggled early on to put passes together. If I am really honest, I thought the lads just didn't perform today, we were very slow on the ball. When we had the ball we just kept giving it away and there was no consistency in our play all afternoon.
"The two-nil scoreline was harsh, but in reality, the better team won and will be in the hat for the next round. I thought the back four dealt with the Trafford attack well all afternoon, but lapses in concentration further up the pitch allowed Trafford to break and they caught us out twice.
"All in all, we need to pick ourselves up and go again on Bank Holiday Monday. The games are coming thick and fast in August, but we have a big enough squad to freshen things up."
Charnock Richard | 1-1 | Longridge Town |
Longridge Town manager Lee Ashcroft, "It was a typical cup tie which had everything. We never got going first half and Charnock was the better side, but the second half we played a lot better and got the equaliser.
"Saying that both goalkeepers played very well, and both made great saves - we now go again Wednesday."
Charnock Richard manager Ryan Donnellan, "I thought we were the better side overall, if we’d of taken our chances it could of been 3/4-1 but that will definitely come.
"The work rate and discipline from the lads was outstanding. We’ve now got Monday, Wednesday and Saturday which is going to be tough. A lot of positives to take from the game that will stand us in good stead for the run in."
Northwich Victoria | 2-1 | Prescot Cables |
Northwich Victoria manager Steve Wilkes, "Obviously really pleased with the result and the character shown by the lads today. To be a goal down going into four minutes of added time, then scoring twice, shows the belief the players have in themselves and their teammates.
"I always say it's not the starting 11 that will win you football matches, as it's a team game, and my three subs, Grundy, Brownhill and Connolly changed the game in our favour. I'm also pleased that we bounced back from an awful second-half display at Runcorn last week.
"And the boys have made a piece of history as it's the first time since becoming a fan-owned/run football club we reached the 1st Qualifying Round. So a good day for the club."
Stocksbridge Park Steels | 2-3 | Irlam |
Irlam manager Michael Dodd, "Another unbelievable day for the club yesterday over in Stocksbridge. To go away and beat the team who currently sit top of the BetVictor South East Division is a great achievement for our side. I think all the managers will tell you that the league is their priority, but days like that in the FA Cup will live long in the memory of everyone involved.
"There are volunteers at our club who have worked tirelessly for years and years; we are obviously delighted to bring some prize money into the club to ease the burden on everyone. In terms of the game; on a really tight pitch it was hard for both midfield's, but defensively we were outstanding again and the forward players have done the business at the top end of the pitch.
"It’s hard for me to pick out individuals but Zach Dulson came in for his first start of the season and performed admirably and I thought Karl Cassell was brilliant again. A great day all round. Onto the next round!"
