The Macron Player of the Month Awards have been confirmed today and we are delighted to announce the winners for January 2020.

PREMER DIVISION - SHAUN WEAVER

Runcorn Town captain Shaun Weaver is the Premier Division Player of the Month for January after a stunning month for the Premier Division side.

Shaun took over the captaincy of the team in mid-December with Simon Thelwell having increased work commitments, and ended 2019 by collecting Man-of-the-Match in his final two games of the year.

He has continued that form into January, with Runcorn playing six league games in the month and Shaun collecting Man-of-the-Match awards from the opposition in every single game he played. Eight successive Man of the Match awards is amazing in itself, and really showed the levels Shaun reached during the month!

Shaun's main attributes are his energy levels and determination to win every ball he challenges for. He puts himself all over the middle of the park, running from the first minute to the last, and no yellow cards in the month shows the fairness he displays when challenging the opposition.

There was no goals for Shaun in the month, the player happy to sit back and break up opposition counter attacks when Runcorn are attacking. However he did manage two direct assists, crossing for Dave Forbes to score at home to Avro and also winning a challenge before setting Forbes one-on-one with the keeper at home to Barnoldswick Town.

FIRST DIVISION NORTH - JAMIE HILL

Prestwich Heys winger Jamie Hill is the First Division North Player of the Month for January after a great first month with the club after transferring from Maine Road.

Since joining Heys, Jamie has become a firm fans' favourite with his never-say-die attitude and direct play. Though not fully fit, Jamie has slotted into the Heys attack with a minimum of fuss, and his contribution has been instant.

He made his debut in a 1-0 victory over Golcar United, impressing with his pace and delivery on the flanks, and he then went on to level the score with a powerful low-drive in a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Lower Breck. Jamie gave the Division leaders a torrid time in the second half before being forced to withdraw with cramp. Breck awarded him Man of the Match in that game.

Hill was then instrumental as he helped Heys earn a narrow 2-1 win over AFC Darwen, but perhaps his best performance of the month came at Nelson. The conditions were cold and heavy, but Jamie gave the Admirals defence a busy afternoon, and his low cross was bundled home by a home defender to give Heys a 2-1 lead after trailing 1-0. Not content with this, Hill then sealed the win with a magnificent burst on goal, beating two defenders, before firing a shot into the top corner. Hill also won his second Man of the Match of the month in this game.

Against Shelley, Jamie was again in great form, and it looked like his third goal of the month might be enough for a ten-man Heys to hold on for victory, however the visitors scored late on to snatch a draw.

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - GLENN RULE

Vauxhall Motors midfielder Glenn Rule is the First Division South Player of the Month for January, the former Chester midfielder having a majestic January and perhaps his best month since joining the Motormen.

Glenn was a pivotal figure in both of Vauxhall's wins against Abbey Hey and Abbey Hulton United, as they fought back from being 2-1 down. He was also instrumental in their hard fought victory at Stockport Town in the middle of the month, gaining a penalty for his side to square the game at 2-2 before playing a superb through ball for Michael Burkey to clinch a fine 3-2 away success with a perfect lob.

However that performance palled into insignificance compared to his performance at Stalybridge Celtic just three days later - Glenn simply ran the show from start to finish as the Motormen cruised to a magnificent 1-0 away win in the Cheshire Senior Cup against a side three divisions higher in the pyramid.

Glenn finished the month as one of the few players to come out of our defeat to Wythenshawe Town with any credit, as he tried desperately to haul us back into the match after going 2-0 down.
