Newcastle Town Hit Port Vale For Six
Tue 27th April 2010 | Newcastle Town | By Ian Templeman
Newcastle Town capped a memorable few days by thrashing Port Vale 6-1 in the final of the Staffordshire Senior Cup at Vale Park.
The newly crowned Vodkat League Premier Division champions even went a goal behind first, before turning on the style against their Football League opponents.

Town Secretary Ray Tatton said: "It was a case of third time lucky as the team produced a tremendous performance to lift the Cup, having lost out to Leek Town and Tamworth in their two previous finals.
"Last night Town produced a performance of incredible quality for a side which plays at Step 5, beating a Port Vale side which included eight players with First Team experience by 6-1 despite going a goal behind after 15 minutes.
"It was a complete all round team performance and they rightly received a standing ovation from both sets of fans with Town's large following in real party mood. The reaction of both camps summed up proceedings - Vale shell shocked and quiet, Castle celebrating but at times finding it difficult to believe the quality of Town's performance. For the second time in three days Castle's players bounced themselves to a trophy, and another load of champagne finished up where it was not meant to.
"We certainly did the Vodkat League proud. There must have been 2-300 Castle fans there - if we could only get the same support each week".
