Eccleshall are finalising plans for changes to the club house at Pershall Park, prior to submitting the plans to the Council for planning permission.
Â
Chairman Andy Mapperson said:Â "This is long overdue but it is also important to get it right and there is still a great deal of work to be done to get whatever financial help we are entitled to, as well as actually planning on getting the work done.
Â
"The new club house will be dedicated to the memory of our late club captain, Danny Stevens, and we as a club are indebted to the money raised on Danny's behalf by friends, family and colleagues that have allowed us to move forward with the project. Particular mention must go to the Woodseaves FC who Danny also played for.
Â
"They have continued to support the project and have helped greatly on the fund raising side, particularly in a charity game that was organised during the close season. It is hoped that something similar can be arranged this year and details should be available over the coming weeks".
Â
The club are also working with local junior side Eccleshall Eagles to try and formalise the relationship so that the two clubs can combine forces. Andy explained: "The Eagles are utilising the pitch across the road from the club house and it makes so much difference having the pitch available next door. I know the junior sections are enjoying the opportunity to establish a closer relationship with the senior sides.
Â
"Next year will see the first of their sides make the move to under 18's football and they are confident of playing in the County Minor Sunday Youth League and the Midweek Floodlit League, which can only help establish them as part of the club and hopefully allow them to make the step up to senior football at Eccleshall.
"The Eagles are also looking to increase the number of pitches they now have and will be levelling an area within Eccleshall Football Club's bounderies to create a pitch suitable for the kids. This would then open several areas for raising money for themselves through grants to help improve equipment and facilities".Â
