Comings And Goings At New Mills

New Mills manager Tony Hancock has freshened up his squad with three new signings and two familiar faces leaving as his side prepare for the run in to this season's campaign.
First team regulars Bobby Lloyd and Garry Kharas have both left Church Lane in the past couple of weeks, and as Tony explained in the New Mills programme for the St Helens Town game, both had different reasons for their departure.
"Bobby Lloyd has left to go back to Droylsden. This is a good opportunity for him and he has taken it. Bobby did well for us but often found the pitches at this level difficult to display his skills so it is understandable that he has taken the decision.
"Garry Kharas left and returned to Glossop. Garry has done well for us in his time here, but I felt we had this opportunity to bring in a four figure sum for him which was good money and I was happy to accept it. This is the first time the club has received monies for a player and it may happen again with some of the talent we have here.
"Garry had not won a Saturday competition medal during his career and this was used by myself to persuade him to join the club. He has picked up three in three years with New Mills.
"It was time for me to get out my "little black book" of names and contacts and I have done just that. We have signed the Baguley brothers (Chris and Jamie), who I attempted to sign in the summer. I believe that had we been in the Unibond League we would have got them then. They both offer us different options and they are very good footballers indeed.
"We have also signed Kane Berkeley who at just 17 is a real prospect with a lot to learn. Kane knows he has to knuckle down here if he wants to succeed and listen to the advice from both myself and Kirky (assistant manager Paul Kirkham). If he does he will be another useful squad player".
Player movements aside, Tony says he and the players are still focussed on the championship chase, despite Newcastle Town's strong position at the top of the table.
"We are still going flat out to win every game before the season ends. I know this is a tall order but it is the only way if we want to ensure a top finish. Newcastle have got a great lead but we have to keep up the pressure and the only way to do that is to win matches".   Â
