It is with regret we have to announce that Lowen Douglas, Kit Manager at Abbey Hey FC, passed away on Monday aged just 34.

Lowen (pictured below) suffered a stroke on Saturday morning, followed by a heart attack and a second stroke on Sunday. He died on Monday in Tameside Hospital.

Abbey Hey Treasurer and committee member Paul Cullen said:  Lowen joined the club three years ago and his enthusiasm, energy and sense of humour have helped the club enormously over the past few seasons.

In addition to his Kit Manager duties, he assisted on the bench on match days and behind the scenes during the week with training. He also played a big part during our clubhouse events, organising raffles and various other fund raising ideas.

All our thoughts are with his family at this present time.

We have decided to dedicate Saturday's home friendly against New Mills to Lowen, and celebrate his life rather than cancel the game. A minute's silence will be observed before the start.”
