VODKAT LEAGUE PLAYER OF MONTH AWARDS

PREMIER DIVISION - KIERAN FLETCHER OF PADIHAM

Padiham's unbeaten run of six league games coincided with the arrival of centre-back Kieran Fletcher and his influence on the rest of the team at Padiham.

Good in the air, strong in the tackle and an excellent organiser, Kieran has been recognised on a number of occasions by the Storks' opponents, picking up a number man of the match nominations since joining the club. In January Kieran stood out as a worthy nomination for the Premier Division Player Of The Month, playing an important part in the club's fine performances which saw them pick up three wins and a draw from the four games they played during the month.

DIVISION ONE - PAUL SHANLEY OF ATHERTON COLLIERIES

Paul played a key role in Colls' winning sweep through January, where they won all three games they played and scored ten goals in the process.  Paul opened the scoring in the 4-0 win at Daisy Hill, and followed that by scoring the winner against Rochdale Town with a last gasp strike.  In the final game of the month against Daisy Hill in the First Division Trophy, he scored a 20 yard screamer to break the deadlock in extra time and then set up Paul Atherton's second goal of the game.

Paul's wing play has been a constant worry to opponents, but they clearly respect Paul as a player as he received the opponents Man of the Match nomination in all three games in January

PAXSPORT GOALKEEPER OF THE MONTH AWARDS

PREMIER DIVISION - NEIL BEESLEY OF SQUIRES GATE

Neil had a truly outstanding month between the sticks for Gate, conceding one goal in the away game against Maine Road, one against Bootle at home and most impressively of all, a clean sheet in Gate's 1-0 win at Winsford.

He also saved a penalty in the victory over Bootle and has been the main reason for Gate's outstanding form during January, which moved them into fourth place in the table. He was in commanding form, producing top quality saves in all four games he played in, all of which were against quality sides in the top half of the table.

DIVISION ONE - ANDY SPEIGHT OF AFC BLACKPOOL

Andy played an important part during January in helping to maintain AFC Blackpool's position at the top of the Division One table.  In recent years the club has usually been at the wrong end of the table at this time of year, but now find themselves league leaders due in no small way to Andy's consistency during the season, and he has played a major role in that success.

He was in fine form during January, and in the four games the club played during the month, all ended in victories. The only goal Andy conceded in the four games was in the 2-1 win against fellow promotion challengers Wigan Robin Park.
