New Manager At Congleton Town
Congleton Town have appointed Jim Vince as their new manager, in succession to caretaker manager Dean Sibson, who was relieved of his duties last weekend after three months in charge.
43 year old Vince has previously managed Witton Albion, FC Halifax and Woodley Sports, and took charge of his first training session on Wednesday evening.
Town Chairman Peter Evans said: “I am full of admiration for the job Dean has done for us over the past few months. He came into the role on a caretaker basis, and has done a fantastic job in organising the squad during his time in charge.
“However, we have ambitions for next season and felt that we would need an experienced non-league manager in place to attract the type of players we will need in order to be challenging for promotion, and we felt that now was a good time to make a change.
“Jimmy applied for the job last summer when we appointed Joe Paladino, but he was away when we held interviews and we never got to talk to him at that time.
“When Joe took charge last summer he had to build a team from scratch, which is very difficult for anyone to do, and we didn’t want to be in the same position again this summer if we waited until the end of the season before assessing the manager’s position.
“This season we aren’t really threatened by relegation, so we felt that now was a good time to bring an experienced manager in, and give them time to assess the squad and build for next season.
"We believe Jim is the man for that job and we are delighted to have him at the club. He has only been at the club a matter of days and already his professionalism and approach has been amazing.
“He works as a coach at Crewe Alexandra and brings with him a vast knowledge of the game, and he has also appointed two assistants to work with him, who are very experienced at this level of football – Steve Hardy, who was assistant manager at Flixton, and Neil Gill, who was manager at Alsager Town. Neil’s son Kurtis is already at the club, and is a member of our first team squad.
"We have new main sponsors coming on board for next season, Gateleys, who are legal firm based in Manchester and we are also actively working to get other sponsors on board with us. If all goes to plan, it will hopefully mean that we will be in a position to provide Jim with the sort of playing budget he will need to ensure we are challenging at the top of the table.”
