Contract Quest For Chris

Chris Smith of Stone Dominoes heads south this weekend, in search of a full time professional contract with Swindon Town.

The 21-year-old full back/midfielder heads to the County Ground for five days intensive training after making the last four in a competition sponsored by Samsung, where the prize for the winner is a contract with the League Two club.  To get to this stage, Chris has played in four trial games, and now joins just three other players left in the competition which attracted an original entry of 5,000 hopefuls.

Chris, who is a second-year student in sports coaching and development at Staffordshire University, told The Sentinel newspaper: "I am looking forward to training and playing with professionals every day and learning as much as I can. I am going to give it everything."

After the week’s training is complete, Chris won’t have long to find out whether or not he has caught the eye of Town manager Paulo Di Canio and his coaching team, as the winner of the competition will be announced at half-time during Swindon's home game with Accrington Stanley on the 25th February.
