Bucks Prepare For Toffees Visit

Officials at Bootle are working round the clock to prepare for the visit of illustrious neighbours Everton next Wednesday 1st February in the semi-final of the Liverpool Senior Cup.

The club are hopeful of a good turn out on the night, as the tie holds a lot of anticipation due to the historic past of both teams, especially in this competition. The game is billed as the original Merseyside derby, as the two teams were fierce rivals before the Football League was formed.

Everton were elected into the Football League, while Bootle, initially playing in the Football Alliance and the new Second Division were soon replaced by new neighbours Liverpool FC due to financial troubles.

Everton hold the record for the number of wins in the Liverpool Senior Cup with 45 wins, their last being back in 2007, while Bootle are 3 times winners, the last time however was way back in 1889.

Bootle are hoping for another good turnout for this game, after over 1000 spectators came to watch the Bucks against the Toffees back in 2010, with the visitors to the Delta Taxis Stadium coming away with a 2-4 win, including two penalties. The Bucks are hoping for a similar night, with a different result at the end.

David Miley, Bootle’s Programme Editor said:  “The game back in February 2010 was a roaring success, with our best attendance at the Delta Taxis Stadium. Everyone enjoyed the night, the atmosphere was excellent and, despite the result everyone at the club was on a high.

“We had a few months to plan for that game, however it is different this time.  We have only had two weeks’ notice and so our focus has been on advertising the game through the local media and social networks. We are hoping to get some posters in local shops and bars over the weekend and sell our allocation of tickets that we have printed up.”

Although the game is not all ticket, it is recommended to purchase a ticket as if the game is as successful as 2010 then a lockout will be expected.  To purchase a ticket please e-mail jdoranbfc@gmail.com or visit the Delta Taxis Stadium.  Tickets are on sale up to the day of the game priced at £4 for Adults, £2 for Concessions.
