Widnes have announced the appointment of Danny Meadowcroft and Brian Pritchard as their new management team for the new season.

The duo arrive at the Select Security Stadium fresh from steering Barnton to victory in the Division One play off final against Bacup Borough last Saturday.

They now renew their association with former Barnton Chairman Ian Ross, who was announced as the new Chairman of Widnes earlier this week.

Speaking on the club website, Danny Meadowcroft said: "It's going to be massive and to be in charge of this team makes me a proud man, and it is a fantastic challenge for us both.

"Last season at Barnton will have put us in good stead and I just want to carry on from there.

"I didn't want the season to end if I'm honest and I owe a lot to Rossi for giving me the opportunity last season, but hopefully I've repaid his faith in me and will continue to do so!

"We're hoping to create a winning side that will encourage the football fans in this town to come out and support the team, and with that, the best players the town has to offer.

"I’m sure as once everybody sees what’s happening at this club we will get that backing, and with that support spurring us on who knows what can happen in the future, the potential here is massive.

"We're extremely lucky that the guys who now run the club are extremely ambitious and have given us a great platform to do well here.

"The works starts today for us, we can't wait for the season to start, it couldn't come quick enough now!"
