Eccleshall have announced the appointment of Jimmy Leech and Dan Dawson as their new management team for next season.

Jimmy and Dan are currently with Redgate Clayton in the Staffordshire County Senior League Division 1, where they have guided the team to their current top place in the table, and to two cup finals where they have finished runners up in both the President's Trophy and the Staffordshire Challenge Cup.

Following Steve Lloyd's announcement of his intention to stand down as Eccleshall manager after the Widnes game in March, the club put the wheels in motion to seek his replacement in readiness for the 2016-17 season, and after short listing and interviews, the club have announced that the new duo will be taking the helm following the final game at Widnes on 30th April - Jimmy as manager and Dan as coach and assistant manager.

Although they will be stepping up a couple of levels to the NWCFL, they are relishing the challenge.

Jimmy said: "Myself and my assistant Dan Dawson are delighted to be joining Eccleshall FC and looking forward to taking up our positions at the end of the season.

"The players have shown what they can do in recent weeks with some great results, and our plan is to build on that going in to the new season by keeping our core player base and supplementing it with some new faces where necessary.

"We can't wait to get going properly once the season ends, and look forward to building a successful team both on and off the pitch".

Club secretary Jim Tunney said: "After advertising the post, we had enquiries from as far north as Bury and as far south as Birmingham and there were some promising candidates among the short listed applicants.

"However, the club committee took the view that we needed to 'go back to our roots' a little and look for a manager who would be closer to the club and have a more local knowledge of players who could enhance our existing squad.

"Jimmy and Dan fitted the bill - they are young and enthusiastic and had clearly done their homework on our club in the information they provided with their application. On the night, they interviewed very well and we feel that they can take the club forward on the pitch and provide Eccleshall with a period of stability on the management side which we have lacked in recent years".

The new manager met the Eccleshall team for the first time before Saturday's final home match of the season against Litherland REMYCA. Jimmy and Dan will be seeing out their commitments with Redgate Clayton to the end of this season, before beginning their planning for their first NWCFL campaign in August.
