Defibrillator Session At Barnoldswick

Barnoldswick Town will be hosting a training session in their club house this coming Friday evening, April 22nd, in the use of a new defibrillator.
The defibrillator has been installed at the pavilion at Victory Park in Barnoldswick thanks to the efforts of Pat Jones, the Manager of Barnoldswick Town’s Under 18's squad.
After the tragic death of a young female footballer in East Lancashire last year, Pat decided to try and get a defibrillator installed in the park, which hosts the club’s Under 18 games.
Pat approached North West Ambulance Service as he had a connection with them from his work in the Army. He is also accredited by NWAS as a HeartStart instructor, and originally was involved in helping the Army Recruiting Teams set up HeartStart lessons in North West schools.
The NWAS Trust were able to support the provision of a defibrillator through external funding, and with support from Pendle Council’s Neighbourhood Services and Barnoldswick Town Council.
The Borough Council will be paying for the installation costs and taking responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the defibrillator.
An awareness session on using the defibrillator will be held at Barnoldswick Town Football Club’s Clubhouse on 22nd April between 7 and 8.30pm. Anyone interested is welcome to attend and the BTFC Junior coaches will also be attending.
The training will be delivered by Cheryl Pickstock, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
