Raining Goals
Just nine games survived the inclement weather at the weekend - but there was plenty of entertainment for the spectators who braved the elements on Saturday afternoon.
The nine games produced a total of 45 goals, and that doesn't include 45 minutes of action at the Mayfield Sports Centre, where the game between Rochdale Town and Holker Old Boys was abandoned at half time, with Rochdale leading 4-1.
Just goes to show that even in the worst of conditions, our clubs can still deliver value for money to paying spectators.
Barlick's Weather Battles
One club affected as badly as anyone during November is Barnoldswick Town, who end November having played just two games.
But in the two games they did play, they certainly turned in impressive performances, with a 5-0 win over Harrogate Railway Athletic and a 1-0 win at Runcorn Linnets on Saturday topping an tailing weeks of inactivity.
The results were all the more noteworthy considering they came into the month on the back of just win in eight, if you don't include the penalty shoot out win over Eccleshill United in the West Riding County Cup.
Saturday's result suggests that if Barlick can beat the weather, they are ready to hit a run of form once again.
Cheadle Top The Table
With other clubs in the Division One promotion chase either inactive or in cup action, Cheadle Town took advantage on Saturday, with their 4-1 win at Whitchurch Alport moving them to the top of the table.
It's a good while since Town were last in that position, and the challenge now for Terry Hincks and his men is to keep the momentum going.
Ryan Back In Goalscoring Form
With five goals in the last five games, AFC Liverpool captain Ryan Cox is once again proving to be a handful for opposition defences.
His two goals against Winsford United moved him up to joint top scorer in the Premier Division alongside Runcorn Town's Paul Shanley, and with the Reds sitting in fifth place and their skipper back among the goals again, they are looking good for the second half of this season's league campaign.
Eccleshall's MEN United Cup Adventure Continues
Eccleshall have experienced their fair share of drama during their various cup campaigns this season, and Saturday's 2-0 win over Irlam was the latest in what has been a notable run in tournament so far.
It would have tough to follow a penalty shoot out win over Chadderton in the First Round after being three goals down, and a last minute win at West Didsbury & Chorlton in the last round for excitement, but Saturday's win was no less important as it clinched a place in the quarter final of the competition for the first time, and they now face a trip up to Colne.
The only previous occasion the teams have met was back in 2003-04, the season that Eccleshall joined the league and Colne were promoted from the Second Division, so the tie will offer another new experience for Steve Lloyd's men.
