Nine games beat the bad weather at the weekend, and the games that did go ahead had to overcome torrential rain and correspondingly difficult playing conditions over the course of the afternoon.

The game at Rochdale Town bowed to the elements at half time, being abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch, but the games that lasted for the full duration provided some great entertainment for the fans who braved the elements.

In the Men United Cup 3rd Round four ties survived, and three out of the four away teams progressed into the quarter finals.

The artificial surface at Stockport Sports Village was always going to beat the weather, but Stockport Town failed to take advantage, going down 3-1 to Barnton.

A 24th minute strike from Jason McShane and two goals from Kevin Towey had the visitors three up in 49 minutes, with Ruben Abreu getting a consolation for Town in the last minute.

Cammell Laird 1907 edged past Nelson after a cracking game at Little Wembley, with Lairds coming frm behind to win 4-2.

Ryan Mason gave Lairds a half tie lead, but Adam Nuttall struck twice in the space of three minutes early in the second half to put the home side ahead.  However, at the midway point in the half, Brandon Gaskell and Joe Holt scored within 60 seconds of one another to purt Lairds back in front, and Jamie Henders added a fourth with five minutes remaining.

Just one tie went to extra time was at Squires Gate, where the home side eventually lost 5-2 to Colne, after the sides were tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes.  Danny Boyle struck twice in extra time to seal victory, after Ben Allen had put Colne ahead three minutes into extra time.

The only home side to progress were Eccleshall, who reached the quarter finals for the first time with a 2-0 win over Irlam.  Dan Jones and Angelo Errico were on target in the second half for Steve Lloyd's side.

In the Premier Division, three games were played, and any hopes Runcorn Linnets had of putting pressure on Colne at the top of the table were dashed by Joseph Gaughan's goal six minutes into the second half, which clinched 1-0 win for Barnoldswick Town at the Millbank Linnets Stadium.

There were plenty of goals in the other two games, with a late double from Ryan Cox sealed a 4-2 win for AFC Liverpool over Winsford United, and in a thriller at Brookburn Road, Ash Woods hit the winner 16 minutes from time for West Didsbury & Chorlton in their 4-3 win over Congleton Town.

In Division One, Daisy Hill followwd up their 6-2 win at St Helens Town last week with a 4-2 home win over Widnes.  Curtis Cummins was on the scoresheet for Daisy for the first ime since his return from Runcorn Town.

Two goals from Liam Tongue helped Cheadle Town to a 4-1 win at Whitchurch Alport, and Rochdale Town were leading by the same score at half at home to Holker Old Boys, before the game was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.
