Paul Fildes Takes Over At Nelson

Nelson have announced the appointment of Paul Fildes as their new First Team Manager.
Fildes, who is 34, takes over the managerial reins following the departure of Mark Fell last month and is a well-known face around the NWCFL, having had previous managerial experience at Barnoldswick Town as well as having played for a number of clubs including Nelson, Colne, Padiham and Runcorn Linnets.
He now follows in the footsteps of his father Terry, who had two spells as Nelson manager.
Speaking on the club website, Nelson Chief Executive Adam Keizer said:
"We were looking for an ambitious local manager with good knowledge of the North West Counties and non-league football, and someone who can buy into the culture and philosophy of the football club.
“Having played for us Fildesy knows the club inside out and he beat some excellent candidates for the job. We were impressed with his vision for moving the club forwards, his enthusiasm and he's clearly very popular with everyone at the club, from the players to the Chairman to the supporters.
“We're delighted to have him here as manager, he's got good links to local players and he's someone we feel can help develop and get the best out of the young talent we have in the squad, as well as the ability to attract quality local players to the club.
“We're very excited about working with him and we will be working hard to ensure he has the resources to build an exciting team that can move the club forward".
Once his appointment was announced, Paul Fildes said on his Twitter account: “Looking forward to the new challenge and thanks for all the support”.
He takes charge of the team for the first time when the Admirals face Runcorn Linnets at home this Saturday at Little Wembley.
