Winsford United have announced that Lee Duckworth has agreed to be the new First Team Manager.

A search was made for a replacement for Rob Byrne who resigned the position last week, and in a statement the Board said that they were "pleased and somewhat surprised at the high quality of applicants for the position.

"However, after careful consideration it was felt that to keep the basis of what they felt was a good squad and management team, the selection of Lee Duckworth, a player who has been involved with the club for over seventeen years, and who has excellent coaching qualifications, was the right one".

Vice Chairman David Taylor added: “We were delighted when Lee agreed to take the job on, particularly after listening to his ideas and plans for the future. Lee lives in Winsford and the choice is in line with our long term plan of creating a community club serving the people of Winsford”.

Lee’s first match in charge will be tonight when Winsford face Barnton in the Mid-Cheshire Senior Cup.
