AFC Blackpool, Eccleshall, Padiham and Alsager Town have all arranged fund raising events starring some well known names during November.

AFC Blackpool are staging a special charity match and auction in aid of the Gary Parkinson Trust on Sunday .

Gary, a former Blackpool, Burnley and Bolton Wanderers defender was struck down by locked-in syndrome on the morning of September 7th 2010, while working as a coach at Blackpool – a condition that left him awake but unable to speak.

Past players of Blackpool FC and Fleetwood Town have agreed to play in a challenge match against AFC Blackpool Select XI, with Colin Hendry, Andy Preece, Gavin McCann and Trevor Sinclair all scheduled to play.

Afterwards there will be an auction where items such as shirts worn by ex Blackpool FC stars Scott Taylor, Ian Marshall and Keith Southern will be sold to the highest bidder.  The kick off is at 7 pm, with entrance £5 for adults and £2 concessions.

Eccleshall have organised a ‘Comedy Evening’ which will be held at the Hem Heath Cricket Club in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday 21st November with a 7.30pm kick off.

There are two comedians booked for the evening, Jed Stone and John Stiles.

Jed Stone has appeared many times on T.V. and Radio, including Sky TV.’s “The New Comedians”, “Sky Sports” and even “Match of the Day”! As well as many credits on B.B.C. Radio Merseyside and BBC Radio Lancashire.

John Stiles is one of the most popular and busiest comedians on the after-dinner circuit. He is a former professional footballer, having played for Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers, before injury cut short his career in the game. He is also very proud of the fact that his father is World Cup-winning hero Nobby Stiles MBE.

Tickets can be obtained from Liam James (07841427829) or Chris Wright (07904964517) and are priced at £15, which includes a Pie and Peas Supper.

Padiham will be holding their annual Sportsman's Dinner on Thursday 26th November at Burnley FC, with John Beresford (former Newcastle United player) and Kevin Connolly (comedian and impressionist) are the guest speakers.  Tickets cost £30 and are available from Padiham Secretary Alan Smith on 07775 717698.
