Barnton a tough nut to crack

Barnton’s good early season form is borne out by the goal ratio statistics analysed by club. They are now averaging the best goalscoring ratio per game in Division One, and along with Litherland REMYCA they also have the meanest defence. The challenge now for the Villagers is to keep the momentum going.

The FA Cup means goals for Linnets

There can’t be many clubs who have a better goalscoring record in this season’s FA Cup than Runcorn Linnets. They followed up their 6-1 win over Glasshoughton Welfare in the Extra Preliminary Qualifying Round replay with a 6-0 romp against Pontefract Collieries on Saturday. Next opponents in the competition are Washington, who will already be on their guard.

Put money on a 4-3 home win when Ashton Town meet Eccleshall

Ashton Town’s 4-3 home win over Eccleshall would come as no surprise to anyone who has seen previous games between the clubs.

Town have now beaten Eccleshall by that score on four occasions at Edge Green Street in the past ten years – 2005-06, 2011-12, 2012-13 and now this season – an early heads up if anyone fancies a flutter on the correct score if the teams meet at the same venue next season…..

Bacup’s first win

It took seven attempts, but Bacup Borough finally chalked up their first win of the season, with a 4-2 victory over Northwich Manchester Villa.

Manager Brent Peters said after the game: “Despite previous results not going the way we would have liked I have been quite relaxed about things. I knew it was only a matter of time, in previous games we have played really well without getting the win our performances have deserved”.

With a win finally under the belts, let's see if this is the start of a winning run for Brent's men.

No NWCFL problems for Luke

It’s always a challenge when a club makes a step up to a new league, but one player who appears to be enjoying life in the NWCFL is Whitchurch Alport’s Luke Woolam. His two goals against Atherton LR on Saturday took his tally to five for the season after just four games – not a bad start to his first ever campaign in the league.
