Century Up For Matt

Matt Conkie has become the first player to make 100 appearances for 1874 Northwich

Matt's landmark was achieved at Atherton Colleries last Saturday, where he played his part in the Greens' 3-1 win.

He has only missed a handful of games since making his first appearance in August 2013, and remarkably he has kept a clean sheet in 45 of those games.  In League games alone, more than half of the games he has played in have resulted in clean sheets.

To mark his achievement, Matt was presented with a certificate and bottle of champagne by his kit sponsor David Blount before the start of 1874’s game against Alsager Town on Tuesday evening.

It was a game in which Matt once again displayed his heroics in goal and although he didn’t keep a clean sheet – he let one in but had no chance with it – he went on to make several fine saves to ensure that his sides’ unbeaten run at the start of the season continued.
