Ashton Town have announced the appointment of former Tranmere Rovers and Huddersfield midfielder Kenny Irons as their new Under 18's Manager.
The move sees Town join up with Onside Sports Academy and Irons, who has over 500 Football League appearances to his name.
"To get on board another ex-professional with so much experience excites me. 16-18 years old is a vital age in football and I am sure this link up with Onside will go from strength to strength", said Ashton Town Chairman Mark Hayes.
Along with Irons, Gerard Kinsella, the former Everton reserves captain, Plymouth Argyle, Fleetwood Town, and Republic of Ireland Youth International will also encourage and develop players in and around the football pyramid system with Irons at Ashton Town.
Kinsella, who recently signed for Hyde United added: "Onside and Football+ are extremely happy to work with Ashton Town, and cannot wait to develop the youth football in the area.
"Myself and Kenny will bring along massive knowledge to lads at this level, and it is an exciting time ahead for both parties".
Town's Under 18's will play their games in the North West Youth Alliance on Sunday afternoons, games are free entry for all and start in mid August.
