After a number of seasons having to entertain visiting Clubs and officials in the tightest of spaces, Irlam can now finally welcome visitors in style, with the completion of the new Clubhouse facility at their Silver Street ground.

A club presentation evening at the weekend marked the opening of the building, and was a roaring success.

With finishing touches being added to the Clubhouse, club officials are now focussing efforts on another project running alongside the Clubhouse, the renewal of the car parking and entrance to the ground.

Irlam Secretary Warren Dodd explained:.

"The Clubhouse is the culmination of five years of planning and development, along with the sizeable task of funding the project.

“Without the help of the Football Stadia Fund and our own local Trust, the Hamilton Davies Trust, the building would not have been possible.

“I am sure the building will prove to be a popular space for both football and non-football activities and it will be viewed by all at the Club as a revenue creator, as well as a place where football development will thrive.

“Anyone arriving at Silver Street will testify that we probably have the largest car park in the league. Unfortunately it was starting to look a little like a Land Rover testing site !

“Thanks to a grant from Landfill Trust Viridor, the car park will be fully renewed and marked out ready for the start of our pre-season fixtures.

“We see the hard work taking place at member Clubs in our league and also feel the responsibility to keep our ground up to the standard that other Clubs aspire to.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the ground this season and enjoy our new facilities".
