Eccleshall goalkeeper Brandon McEleny has been presented with a donation from the club to support a trip he is about to make to Costa Rica.

The 17 year old goalkeeper, who won the Division One goalkeeper of the month award in March, and a group from his school, King Edward VI High School in Stafford, will shortly be embarking on a journey to Costa Rica as part of a Christian project support group.

Ttheir visit will be for three weeks, during which time base will be a village in the jungle where they perform numerous community projects.

In the past, examples of the work that was carried out ranged from helping re-build schools and churches, digging out wells or installing water supplies. The requirement of the village needs is not known until they actually arrive, but key to the success of the visit is interaction with the local community.

Eccleshall's Richard Marsh said: "Brandon has already done a number of fund raising events and is doing the Three Peaks Challenge in July again to help raise funds.  We wish both he and his group well in the fine work they are carrying out".

Brandon is pictured being presented with the club donation towards the project by his manager Steve Lloyd.
