The final programme of league fixtures settled the outstanding issues at the bottom of the Premier Division and in the race for play off places in the First Division.

Bacup & Rossendale Borough will join St Helens in Division One next season, after they lost 2-0 at Ashton Athletic in a "must-win" game to avoid relegation from the Premier Division.

Borough's Adrian Bellamy had a penalty saved by Athletic keeper Jay Foulds on the stroke of half time, and second half goals from Isaac Kusaloska and Adam Gilchrist secured victory for Athletic, a win that clinches their record points total in the league.

The result means that Barnoldswick Town survive to compete in the Premier Division next season.

At the top end of the table, champions Glossop North End rounded off their league season with a 1-0 win at Runcorn Linnets. Ben Richardson's goal clinched a win that means the Hillmen ended their campaign with 100 league goals and 102 points.

A hat trick from Matthew Beadle helped 1874 Northwich to a 4-1 win at Nelson that secured a third place finish, and Colne's Danny Boyle rounded off the season as the Premier Division's leading scorer with a hat trick in the Reds' 4-2 win at Bootle, a win that sees Colne finish in 4th place.

Squires Gate equalled their best ever 6th place finish with a 2-0 win at Alsager Town, in which Alex Murphy scored both goals.

Elsewhere, AFC Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Congleton Town meant the clubs finished a point and a place apart in the only drawn game in the division, Curtis Cummins' 20th goal of the season earned Runcorn Town a 1-0 win at Abbey Hey, two second half goals saw Winsford United through to a 2-0 win over Silsden, and AFC Blackpool fell to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of West Didsbury & Chorlton.

In Division One, the final line up for play off places was confirmed, and the play offs will now be contested by AFC Darwen, Hanley Town, Holker Old Boys and Chadderton, with AFC Darwen sneaking into the third place right at the death with a last gasp win at home to Eccleshall.

Ryan Steele completed a hat trick in the last minute to seal a 3-2 win that meant Darwen leapfrogged over Hanley Town, who went down 2-0 at runners-up Cammell Laird 1907, Jamie Henders scoring both goals.

Holker Old Boys had their play off place secured by half time, with all the goals in their 5-0 win over Daisy Hill at Rakesmoor Lane coming in the first half. John-Paul Stanway was the Stags' star with a hat trick.

The final play off place was claimed by Chadderton, who won 3-0 at Ashton Town, Daniel Murray scoring twice.

Barnton were the unfortunate club to miss out on the final day, despite winning 7-0 at home to Widnes with Shaun Tuck grabbing four of the goals.

The play off semi-finals will take place on Tuesday night, with AFC Darwen hosting Chadderton, and Holker Old Boys make a long trip down to Hanley Town.

Champions Atherton Collieries rounded off their season with a 3-1 win over Cheadle Town, after which the league championship trophy was presented.

Rochdale Town completed their season with a 2-1 win over Irlam, and at the other end of the table, Oldham Boro avoided finishing bottom with a 6-2 win at Atherton LR, Nick Alexander bagging a hat trick.

That result coupled with Northwich Flixton Villa's 1-0 win over Wigan Robin Park means that the Robins finish bottom.
