1874 Northwich – club Chairman Paul Stockton spent a few hours at the National Football Museum in Manchester, assisting Jacqui Forster of Supporters Direct in manning a display stand at the museum.
Paul said: “Although it wasn’t very busy, I gave away a few old programmes, the odd pen and wristbands to visitors.
“Two men from Columbia were particularly interested in what we are doing at 1874, wanted to know the full story, and promised to take in a game next year if they can find Winsford!”
Bacup & Rossendale Borough - the Brian Boys West View Stadium will host the Year 10 and Year 11 Rossendale Schools Sports football finals on Thursday 7th May. The tournament is being sponsored by Paul Fitton Accountancy and the Year 10 final will kick off at 5 pm and will be followed at 7pm by the Year 11 final.
Admission to the ground at the turnstiles will cost £1.00 for adults and 50 pence for children still at school, which cover both games. The ground will open at 4.15 pm, and the bar will be open.
Manager Brent Peters said: “We are very happy to be hosting these finals at our ground and we hope all participants and spectators have a very enjoyable evening with us. This is our first community event as we revert to our historic name of Bacup Borough Football Club.”
Runcorn Linnets - the Linnets youth team have lifted the North West Youth Alliance's Division Two Cup at the first time of asking with a 2-1 victory over Irlam. Two goals from striker Eddie Shaw saw Linnets through to victory in the final at Burscough's Victoria Park last Sunday.
Manager Andy Hill said: "The boys have excelled all season but Sunday really was the icing on the cake in a final that had a real bit of everything.
"The boys have worked hard all season and it’s really pleasing that we can boast the Divisional Cup in what has to be the toughest Youth League around".
Linnets chairman Derek Greenwood said: "Many congratulations to the youth team on their 2-1 win in what proved to be a hugely competitive and enjoyable game. The team was a credit to the club in their attitude and approach to the game".
West Didsbury & Chorlton – West’s under 18’s Youth team have reached the final of the North West Youth Alliance President’s Cup, beating Bootle 4-3 on penalties after the game finished 1-1. They now face Vauxhall Motors in the final, which will be played at Daisy Hill’s New Sirs ground on Sunday 26th April, kick off 2 pm.
Glossop North End - local firm JJ Training have become the main front of shirt sponsor for Glossop North End. The new kit for the next two seasons was revealed prior to the game against Nelson on Saturday
Litherland REMYCA - everyone at the club is mourning the death of Sheila Edwards, wife of REMYCA club founder Ken Edwards. Media Officer Gary Langley siad: "All at the club would like to offer condolences to Ken and all the Edwards family at this difficult time. Sheila has been part of the fabric of this club always alongside and supportive of Ken and his beloved REMYCA. We remember her with fondness and great respect".
