The Millbank Linnets Stadium, home of Runcorn Linnets, will be staging two special fixtures as the 2014-15 season draws to a close.

On Thursday, April 30th at 7.30pm, the ground will welcome stars of the screen for a match in aid of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Staff of Warrington company Flextronics will go head to head with famous faces from the hit Cheshire-based TV programme Hollyoaks.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children with a family ticket (two adults and two children) available for £14. These are obtainable from the Ticket Hotline (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) tel 01925 260870.

Three days later, on Sunday, May 3rd. a re-enactment of a Runcorn junior league final from yesteryear will be staged, in aid of Runcorn Linnets FC.

The match is being organised by Jamie Bramwell, who lives not far from the Linnets’ HQ in the Brookvale area of town, and explained how the reunion fixture with historical significance to the host ground has come about.

He said: "In 1987, at the age of 11 my football team Oaklands Athletic played Halton Sports in the Sharon Hampson Cup Final in which we won 3-2.

"After 28 years of disappointment and heartache, Halton Sports - whose former football pitch Linnets first team now play on - have via Facebook challenged the Oaklands team to a rematch.

"Both teams have found all our team mates who wish to take up the challenge, whilst raising money for the Linnets.

"Oaklands have even brought out of retirement our old manager Bob Turner, who now lives in mid Wales, with many of the players now living around the country making the journey."

All the players involved are committed to selling 10 tickets for the match and there will also be raffles to boost the Linnets coffers. Kits for the day have been loaned by the Firefighters Charity.

Jamie added: "We believe that youth football gave us so many excellent memories that giving something back to our local team would be a magnificent way to repay the hard work put in by many."

Kick off will be at 11am. Admission to the game is by ticket only. These are available from Jamie Bramwell, tel 07702252101.
