AFC Blackpool are preparing to welcome a larger number of spectators than normal for their home game against Bootle this coming Saturday, 21st March.

The club have been advised that a number of Blackpool FC supporters will be taking part in a boycott of their game against Leeds United at Bloomfield Road on the same day, and instead will be making the trip along to Jepson Way to cheer on the other Blackpool team who play in tangerine.

AFC Blackpool Secretary Billy Singleton explained: "From what we understand, some Blackpool fans have decided to organise a protest before their game against Leeds United, and representatives of a supporters group have been in touch with us to let us know their plans.

"In some ways the situation is a bit awkward for us, as we have always had very good relations with Blackpool FC over the years.

"They have donated kit and equipment to us in the past, and more recently when Ian Holloway was manager, the club put us in touch with him and he agreed to come and speak at a Sportsman's Dinner we had organised.

"Ian was fantastic, and the fact he was there meant that a lot of Blackpool fans turned up to support the night, and raised a lot of money for our club.  And of course, we have always had Blackpool supporters at our club too.

"However, if a group of Blackpool FC supporters have decided that they would like to come and watch our game, they will be made very welcome.

"At the moment, we have been told the group organising the event are selling tickets for coaches which will set off from the centre of Blackpool and drop supporters at our ground, so that will give the organisers an idea of the numbers who will be coming.

"We are told that several hundred people could be coming to the game, so we are starting to make preparations to ensure that, if those numbers do turn up on the day, everyone will be accommodated safely.

"We will keep everyone informed over the course of the next few days of any special arrangements which we will need to make, once we have a better idea of the number of Blackpool fans who will be attending".
