Glossop North End face a replay in the quarter final of the FA Vase after drawing 2-2 with Shaw Lane Aquaforce of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

In a game moved to Sandy Lane in Worksop, scene of the Hillmen's fourth round win over Worksop Town, Glossop twice went behind after conceding penalties, but goals from brothers Kelvin and Kieran Lugsden earned them a replay at Surrey Street this coming Saturday.

Runcorn Linnets extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division with a dramatic 3-2 win over 1874 Northwich at the Millbank Linnets Stadium.

The eye catching game from the weekend's fixture card produced the League's biggest crowd of the season, and for a long spell it looked liked 1874 were going to narrow the gap at the top of the table, with two goals from Michael Brandon putting them ahead after Kevin Towey had opened the scoring for Linnets.

But with 12 minutes left Michael White equalised from the spot, and then Freddie Potter grabbed the winner two minutes from time to clinch a crucial win for Linnets.

Squires Gate consolidated their fifth place position with two goals from Mark Buchan earning them a 2-1 win at Abbey Hey, and Bootle are now sixth, after a last gasp Tom Peterson goal salvaged a point with a 1-1 draw at Maine Road.

Nelson were the day's highest scorers, with six different players getting on the scoresheet in an impressive 6-1 win at St Helens Town, who are now sliding closer to the relegation zone.

Nelson's near neighbours Colne were also in impressive goalscoring form, leading scorer Danny Boyle on target twice in a 5-0 home win over West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Bottom of the table Bacup & Rossendale Borough earned a welcome three points to narrow gap on the teams above them in the relegation places with a 1-0 home win over AFC Liverpool, Adrian Bellamy scoring the crucial goal in the 15th minute.

Elsewhere, two goals from Daniel Egan helped Winsford United to a 4-2 win over Runcorn Town, and Silsden slumped to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Congleton Town.

The familiar recent trend of high scoring wins for Atherton Collieries and Cammell Laird 1907 continued in the First Division, as both continued their march towards automatic promotion with emphatic home victories.

Mark Battersby helped himself to another two goals in Colls' 5-1 win over Eccleshall, while Joe Holt grabbed a double for Lairds in their 4-1 win over Wigan Robin Park.

A second half equaliser from Theo Stair earned Hanley Town a 1-1 draw at home to Rochdale Town and moved them into fourth place, while several other sides with play off aspirations also picked up points.

Late goals from Louis Austin and Colin McDonald secured a 2-0 win for Litherland REMYCA against Irlam, and a Ryan Steele penalty proved to be decisive for AFC Darwen in a 2-1 win over Ashton Town

Four different players shared the goals for Chadderton in a 4-1 win over Daisy Hill, and Widnes drew 1-1 with Northwich Flixton Villa.
