Building work is now well underway on a new club house at Irlam's Silver Street ground.

Planning for the project began three years ago, and club officials are now looking forward to having the facility up and running before the end of the season.

Club Secretary Warren Dodd said: "After navigating through a daunting process of funding, planning and delivering on cost, we are now well on their way to delivering a first class facility at Silver Street, to complement the existing landscape of the ground. It's a facility that is very much needed

"When I arrived at the Club and took over as Secretary in 2008, it was clear what an amazing job the existing committee had done at the ground.

"To manage the move from their first location, based where the Salford Reds Rugby ground now sits, to a new location at Silver Street and build a football ground from scratch is a feat of real endeavour, and something everyone should feel very proud about.

"My shared vision was two fold - to move us up the football pyramid and get a Clubhouse facility built to match the excellent dressing room building we have at the ground already.

"Having overcome numerous obstacles, it gives all of us at the Club great pleasure to finally see a Clubhouse being built. The building is a substantial size, and when we stand in the space every day we have to pinch ourselves to believe we finally achieved it.

"Work is ongoing, and with a completion date set for March/April, depending on the seasonal weather, means that we may well be in the building before the end of the season".
