With the top two clubs, Atherton Collieries and Cammell Laird, involved in cup action at the weekend, the chasing pack in Division One will be looking to close the gap at the top of the table.

Third placed Daisy Hill, who lost to Cammell Laird last week, visit Hanley Town.  Daisy’s away form is as good as their home form so far this season, while Hanley’s home form of late has been poor.

However, Town picked up their first win in ten last week at Uttoxeter in the Staffordshire Vase, and go into the game with the knowledge that they won the reverse fixture at New Sirs back in August.

For fourth placed Atherton LR, the journey down the M6 to Eccleshall is their fourth successive away trip, and the fifth in six games.  LR last failed to score in a game in early September, and will start as favourites against an Eccleshall side under the caretaker management of Liam James, following the departure of Shaun Hollinshead a couple of years ago.

Four wins in the last five league games has helped to move Barnton up into fifth place in the table, and new manager Allan Glover will be looking to build on the good start his side have made under his control when they visit Ashton Town, who haven’t won in any of their last five home games.

If recent form is anything to go by, there will be no shortage of goals at Park Road when Cheadle Town host Northwich Flixton Villa.  Town hit eight against Wigan Robin Park last weekend, and have failed to score just once in their last 13 games.  However, Villa are one of the form teams in the Division of late, with four wins in the last six propelling them up to mid table.

After losing 7-1 over at Litherland REMYCA earlier this month, Oldham Boro have not had to wait long for the chance of revenge, with the Merseysiders coming to Seel Park this weekend.

Finally, Wigan Robin Park will look to halt a run of six straight defeats when they host Holker Old Boys at the Robin Park Arena.  The Cumbrians will themselves be looking to get back to winning ways, having lost both games played since their memorable win over AFC Fylde in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy just over two weeks ago.
