AFC Darwen have announced that Nick Lloyd, previously assistant manager, has been appointed as caretaker manager and will take charge of first team affairs, working alongside Kevin Gallacher, the club’s Director of Football.

A statement on the club website read:

"AFC Darwen will appoint a permanent manager as soon as possible and a recruitment process is being set up. Meanwhile, all training and fixtures continue as usual for seniors and juniors.

"Former manager Kenny Langford has resigned as director of AFC Darwen.

"The club, guided by chairman Wayne Wild, will now look to bring in new directors and a new administration team to take the club forward.

"AFC Darwen has made much progress this year as a community club in Darwen with positive initiatives on both the playing and the commercial side having a truly beneficial influence on the club, the players and, in particular, the junior teams under the guidance of coach Leigh Ashworth. This excellent work will continue".
