The weekend's games once again produced plenty of talking points, with top billing going to Runcorn Town for a stunning result in the FA Cup.

In the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round, Town travelled to Vanaram Conference North side Barrow, and pulled off one of the shocks of the round with a 1-0 win. A magnificent solo effort from Andy Potter clinched a memorable win for Town.

Town now take their place in the Third Qualifying Round, matching the achievement of their neighbours Runcorn Linnets who reached the same stage last season before losing 2-0 to North Ferriby United. Prior to that, the last time a team from our league reached this stage was in 2006-07, when Trafford lost 1-0 at home to Harrogate Town.

However, there was no cup glory for Glossop North End, who went down 1-0 at Chorley, although they could take consolation that their rivals at the top of the Premier Division all dropped league points.

Runcorn Linnets stay top despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Colne. The Reds, managed by former Linnets player Steve Cunningham, took an early lead through Andrew Tinker, but Michael White rescued a point for Linnets with an equaliser midway through the second half.

Glossop sit in second place, one of five teams tied on 26 points behind Linnets. 1874 Northwich moved into third place with a 4-0 win at Abbey Hey, Michael Brandon scoring twice, but AFC Liverpool are fourth after goals from Ryan Allcock and Paul John Hudson sent them to a 2-0 defeat at Congleton Town.

Maine Road drew level on points with Silsden with two goals in each half taking them to a 4-1 win over the Cobbydalers, and Ashton Athletic are seventh after a second half equaliser from Adam Gilchrist secured a 1-1 draw and cancelled out Elliot Ledwards' early goal for Alsager Town.

Nelson's biggest crowd of the season enjoyed a 4-2 over Winsford United, with striker Peter Wright notching his seventh goal of the campaign, and there was no shortage of goals down the road at Bacup & Rossendale Borough, who eventually lost 4-3 at home to Squires Gate, for whom Jack Sowerby scored twice.

Two goals in as many minuets at the start of the second half from Bootle's Dominic McGiveron earned the Bucks a 2-1 win at Barnoldswick Town, and West Didsbury & Chorlton were also in good form on the road with a convincing 3-0 win at St Helens Town.

AFC Blackpool are still bottom of the table and looking for their first win of the season after coming from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Stockport Sports.

In the First Division, Atherton Collieries maintained their 100% league record and moved ahead of Hanley Town on goal difference to the top of the table with a 6-0 win over the Potteries side, in which Mark Battersby scored twice.

Cammell Laird 1907 continued their recent good form with a 5-0 win over Chadderton that moves them into third place, Craig Cairns grabbing a hat trick.

Daisy Hill are fourth after losing 4-2 at Widnes in a game that also produced a hat trick, a treble from Benjamin Tollitt.

Two early goals from Northwich Flixton Villa put them on the road to a 2-1 win at Atherton LR, and the long trip to Barnton was a fruitful one for Holker Old Boys, who emerged with a 3-0 win.

The only draw of the day saw Cheadle Town held to a 2-2 draw by Rochdale Town, and there were welcome home wins for sides who started the day in the bottom half of the table.

A late goal from Eccleshall's Matt Llouns-Johnson earned them a 2-1 win over Oldham Boro, an Andrew Simm penalty was enough to see Wigan Robin Park through to a 1-0 win over Irlam, and Litherland REMYCA moved off the bottom of the table with a 2-1 win over Ashton Town, although the game was overshadowed by a bad injury to Town's Elliott McDonough which led to a 35 minute stoppage.
