Stockport Sports have confirmed that manager Asa Crowe has resigned from his post with immediate effect.

Stockport born and bred, Asa joined the club following the departure of former manager Stuart Rudd in October 2013.

Chairman Wayne Ashworth said: “I had discussions with Asa last week, and due to work commitments he feels he is unable to commit the time and effort required to manage a squad at this level of football.

"We spoke at length regarding possible solutions but work must come first and I fully understand and appreciate Asa’s predicament.

"I would like to place on record the gratitude of everyone connected with Stockport Sports for the work and effort Asa has put in over the last year. He’s a genuine bloke who loves football, he’s worked extremely hard behind the scenes and I am personally very grateful for all his efforts”.

A further announcement will be made by the club in due course.
