After a weekend's break for the FA Cup, we return to league action this weekend, with a number of games also played this midweek.

We've had a slight change at the top with Runcorn Linnets now leading the way, but only a matter of goals scored separates Linnets and 2nd placed Glossop North End.

At the bottom, Abbey Hey and AFC Blackpool occupy the bottom 2 positions, with both sides still searching that elusive first win of the season, while Barnoldswick sit in the final relegation place with a marginally worse goal difference than Maine Road and Bacup & Rossendale Borough.

On to this weekend's fixtures, and the top two both have home ties this weekend, Runcorn Linnets host West Didsbury & Chorlton, while at Surrey Street, Glossop North End entertain Silsden.

A fantastic start to the season for the early pace setters sees them both unbeaten. West will be looking to put an end to Linnets run, while Silsden, who have had a great start to the season themselves, will be looking to add to their three wins already.

Another side yet to taste defeat are AFC Liverpool. After putting an end to 1874 Northwich's brilliant home record in midweek, they'll fancy their chances against a lowly Barnoldswick who have only managed three points the once so far.

A tie that catches my eye this weekend is Congleton Town v Squires Gate. Both teams have had excellent starts with Squires Gate yet to taste defeat in four league games and Congleton losing just the once in five. I expect a close game with goals aplenty.

Maine Road, who picked up their first win of the season over Abbey Hey in midweek, welcome new boys Nelson to Brantingham Road. Again another game that catches my eye, as both teams have recently picked up their first wins of the season and will be looking to kick on from there.

Abbey Hey really are struggling so far this season with five straight defeats, however manager Luke Gibson has brought in three new faces this week and they will look to get off the mark at home to Alsager. Town.

1874 Northwich will look to put their first defeat behind them as they travel to Bacup & Rossendale Borough, and BARB themselves will be hoping to make amends after a narrow defeat to Silsden in midweek which saw them pick up their fourth league defeat.

After a crushing 7-2 win over St Helens Town in midweek, Runcorn Town will be hoping to carry on their goalscoring form away at AFC Blackpool.

Stockport Sports make the trip to Brocstedes to play Ashton Athletic, who secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Winsford United in midweek thanks to a last minute Adam Storey winner.

Winsford themselves will look to get back to winning ways at home to Bootle, while Colne host St Helens as both teams look to bounce back from last weekend's FA Cup exits.
