Eight of our sides progressed through to the next round of the FA Cup at the weekend.

Here's a selection of quotes from the winning camps.

St Helens Town 2 Atherton Collieries 5

Michael Clegg, Manager, Atherton Collieries: "We were terrible in the first 45 minutes, nothing at all went right. At half time we spoke about our strengths, and to be honest we blew them away the second half.

"It was a fantastic debut for a lot of this new team in the FA Cup, and it was a great day for everyone connected to the club. It was a fantastic result and we will enjoy being the underdogs in the next round".

AFC Liverpool 0 Squires Gate 3

Dave McCann, Manager, Squires Gate: "It was a good win and for our club, the prize money definitely does help. "I thought that during the first half we kept our shape well, we had worked very hard out of possession for long periods and did well to limit them to half chances. But we broke out well and that's how our first goal came.

During the second half we kept it tight for the first ten minutes and that gave us the confidence to start playing and we started to keep the ball better. Both goals came at very important times in the game, and in the end I feel we were good value for our victory".

Glossop North End 3 AFC Blackpool 0

Jonathan Haggart, Press Officer, Glossop North End: "It was a very pleasing day for us. We took the opportunity to show the depth in our squad, and players who hadn't started a game so far all started this one, and the transition was seamless.

"Blackpool were struggling with injuries, and we did what we had to do pretty professionally. Had we taken all our chances it could have been a good few more.

"We've still only conceded 1 goal in 5 games, and that was a penalty. Our defending has been superb so far and that lays the foundation for our talented front players to shine. It's been a top class start".

1874 Northwich 2 Maine Road 1

Ian Street, Manager, 1874 Northwich: "I am made up to be in the next round of the competition, but we were very average, and so to come out of it with a win is great for us. Too many players seemed to have an off day, and although we started very brightly for the first 15 minutes, a little bit of a lack of concentration and basic errors crept into our game and spread through the team far too easily.

"Maine Road worked tremendously hard and posed a few problems for us but I felt that as soon as we had a spell of playing to our potential then the goals and chances would come.

"At 1-1 we went down to ten men midway through the second half with a dubious last man decision but we didn't change our plan or attitude to the game, and stayed with an attacking formation. That bravery reaped its rewards in the end with a goal from ex Maine Road striker Matty Beadle.

"If it was a case of winning ugly, then I hope not to be seeing anything like that anymore from us in a hurry".

Runcorn Linnets 6 Rochdale Town 0

Linnets manager Joey Dunn: "As always the game had that air of expectancy that the FA Cup always brings. We knew that we would need to be on our game to get through what was a tricky tie, and in the end due to our disciplined approach we enjoyed a really good afternoon.

"We have set ourselves up with a real tough encounter in the next round away at Droylsden, who started their league campaign on Saturday with a 7-1 thumping of Bamber Bridge so we know how hard it will be. But as is the norm, we have gone from giants to giant killers in the next round, which is what the cup is all about".

Nostell MW 1 Stockport Sports 2

Asa Crowe, Manager, Stockport Sports: "I had Ricky Anane missing through suspension which was a big loss to us, but we had a squad to adapt to that, and got a team out that battled for us in windy difficult conditions from the first minute to the last.

"In the first five minutes Ben Halfacre hit the crossbar with a great effort, and then we did have a few great chances to break the deadlock but their keeper was on the top of his game. We went in 0-0 at half time then came out in the second half playing against the wind, and we really did battle well before Ben Halfacre got his goal.

"We had a great chance to make it two five minutes later but the keeper made a great save, and then one lapse of concentration gave Nostell a penalty which made it 1-1. We continued to battle on, then in the last minute Tyrone Turner was hacked down in the box, the referee gave us a penalty, and up stepped big Ben Halfacre who got us the win with his eighth goal in five games.

"I was so proud of every player who travelled with us, it was a squad effort, and with us getting a bit of cash from yesterday it helps me to bring in Jon Barton as our new kit man who is brilliant and makes the place look a lot more professional.

"The win was massive to me and Stockport Sports, and hopefully we can build on this and go a bit further, we will sure be up for it".

Parkgate 1 Congleton Town 3

Congleton Town Secretary Ken Mead: "Our last visit to Parkgate was in 2011 when we were beaten 4-2 in an FA Vase tie, so it was pleasing to go there in the FA Cup and avenge that defeat with a deserved 3-1 win that scooped the £1500 prize money.

"We went in at half time leading 1-0 thanks to some neat skills from Scott Barlow, avoiding three challenges in the penalty area before firing home from close range. The scoreline also reflected a fine double save by debutant 'keeper Craig Ellison and some inadvertent 'defending' by Nick Rogan who twice blocked his colleagues goal bound efforts to deny us a bigger lead.

"He made up for that when he restored our lead with 20 minutes left after a bizarre equaliser. A long throw eluded everyone except Scott Whittington who stole in and shot from close range. The shot hit the bar, he fell over and he headed in the rebound while laying on the floor. Scott Barlow rounded off the scoring and eased any outstanding worries after a fine passing move set him through on goal.

"We are now looking forward to the next round against Salford City. With all the publicity surrounding them, we would like to think there could be additional media interest".
