No more dress rehearsals, we're down to business. That's pre-season over with for another 12 months and it's time to put into practice what the managers have all been preaching.

The NWCFL season is upon us once again, and here's a look at the opening days fixtures in the NWCFL Premier Division.

First up, we'll check in with Runcorn Linnets, and last season's runners up will be looking to go one better this season and finally clinch promotion.

They open up with a home fixture against much improved Stockport Sports. The corresponding fixture last season was a tight 2-1 win for Linnets and I'm sure they'd settle for the same again this season and get the first 3 points of the season on board.

The 2 promoted teams from NWCFL Division One both have tough games to start their campaigns. 1874 Northwich travel to AFC Blackpool, while Nelson host seasoned NWCFL professionals Runcorn Town.

Many people's title favourites, Glossop North End, travel to last season's reprieved side Bacup & Rossendale Borough. A good pre-season for Bacup will see them enter this campaign with renewed hope of avoiding the drop this year, whereas Glossop have strengthened their squad considerably and will be hoping for the perfect start and three points.

Another team people are tipping to do well are Colne. Steve Cunningham seems to be assembling a strong squad up there, and they travel to Winsford to get their season started.

Bootle are also putting a strong squad together and are among the favourites for promotion.  They host Squires Gate in their opening fixture.

Last season's League Challenge Cup winners Ashton Athletic host Congleton Town, whilst the runners-up of that competition Maine Road host St Helens Town.

The rest of the opening day fixtures see West Didsbury & Chorlton travel to Barnoldswick, AFC Liverpool visit Alsager and Abbey Hey make the trip to Silsden.
