Testimonial For Bootle Stalwart

Bootle have awarded long serving Jamie Hay a testimonial to recognise his ten years of service to the club.

Jamie started his Bootle Football Club career back in 2000 when he played for the Bucks as a young lad making his way in the game, in the days when they played their home games at Kirkby Sports Centre.

After Bootle were removed from the NWCFL, Jamie continued to play local football in the area turning out for Bootle when he could in the Liverpool County Combination. A brief spell away from Bootle for two seasons meant the award for a testimonial didn't come two seasons ago.

The appointment of Carl Burleigh as manager in 2003/4 meant a return to the club for a number of players, including Jamie. When Chris O'Brien took over from Carl at the start of the 2004/5 season Jamie remained part of the squad. Jamie forged a strong bond with Chris and the club, which culminated in Bootle winning their first league title in over 25 years.

When Neil Prince took over in 2012 Jamie remained a stalwart of the team helping the team to lift the Liverpool Senior Cup.  Joe Doran then named Jamie Vice-Captain when he was appointed as manager in December 2013.

Jamie has won numerous Player of the year awards in his time at the club and under all three of the managers named above. In fact Jamie has played under at least six managers at Bootle since he made his debut back in 2000, and he picked up both Player's Player and Committee's Player of the Year in June for his displays last season.

Jamie has played over 450 games for Bootle Football Club and scored over 100 goals, and to mark the achievement the Club's committee have organised a testimonial match for Jamie.  When the Committee asked him what team he would like his Bootle XI to play against, he said:  "I've played with so many good friends and players for Bootle that I would like one Bootle XI v another Bootle XI".
