First Division Cup Final - Post Match Reaction

Kevin Daly, joint manager of First Division Cup winners Formby, said: "We made hard work of it but fair play to Hanley, they have been a credit to the league this season. They played some decent football, have a great centre half, good keeper and they worked hard together. Fair play to them, they put up a good fight."
However, with the game going into extra time and penalties ahead of Saturday's crucial league promotion battle with 1874 Northwich, Daly added: "1874 Northwich will be happy that the game went to extra time. However, as I have been telling everyone, we are scousers, we stick together and knuckle down and will find the extra energy to get us through the next few games."
Formby captain Mickey White, said: "It was one hard fought game. The chips were down a couple of times but we rallied towards the end and never gave up. We had a great team spirit. We said before the game that we have four cup finals coming up - we have won the first one and have three to go. We weren't at our best today but credit to Hanley who were a great side. Unfortunately one side has to win and one has to lose, but I am just glad we managed to get through it."
Formby programme editor Merrick Cork, said: "It was a very tight game and no one likes to lose on penalties, so you have to feel for Hanley for that. It is the fourth time we have had a penalty shoot out under the management of Jim and Kev and we have won them all."
Hanley Town Manager Dave Price, said: "I felt we were the best team on the night, we out battled them but as we saw with the equalising goal in normal time, they had a bit of luck with the ball rebounding into the net. We had chances but didn't take them but we have done ourselves proud tonight. We were good enough to win it though but probably needed that bit of experience to see us through in the end, had we had that, we probably would have won it."
