We regret to announce that Alan Maidment, long time supporter and volunteer at Nelson FC, passed away last weekend.

Alan was a well known face to many of us involved with the NWCFL, and the following tribute to him was published on the Nelson website.

"Alan Maidment, who died last weekend aged 69, was an ardent fan of Nelson FC along with his youngest son Peter. Together they had regularly attended games for the past 20 years and he was a popular club member during that time.

As an avid programme collector he both established and ran the club shop for a period of ten years. He and Peter also delivered the match posters to shops and outlets throughout the town.

Despite suffering from poor health and disabilities he was a chirpy, happy character and always upbeat and optimistic. He was a prominent member of the half-time hospitality club and well known throughout the NWCFL clubs.

You couldn't help but like the little fellow - God Bless Him".
