The Non League football scene in North Staffordshire has been rocked by the very sad news of the sudden death of Hanley Town manager Colin Stair.

Hanley Town are on the verge of winning the Staffordshire Senior League, and if successful they would be promoted to the NWCFL next season. Colin has been a driving force in this upward move and the progress of his beloved club.

Colin (aged 50) died suddenly at his home on Sunday morning after watching Hanley win two games in two days on Friday and Saturday, and celebrating his wife's birthday on Saturday night.

NWCFL Fixtures Secretary John Reid said: “When members of the League Management Committee paid a visit to Hanley Town earlier this season to inspect the ground, Colin was full of enthusiasm for the future and the move upwards to a higher level.

“Colin leaves a wife and three children who have received massive support and sympathy from the football scene in the area, and also from the many people who knew him outside football. It is these people we should think about at this very sad time”.
